Or better yet, one can actually try the e-cigarette or electronic cigarette. It may not be as satisfying as the real one but I guess it would help you lessen the nicotine you get from real cigarettes. It also protects your friends from second hand smoke.

Nicotine is an alkaloid (a chemical with nitrogen atoms) that’s released when tobacco is burned. The reason why you cannot stop smoking is that nicotine is addictive. You probably wake up every morning and the only thing you can think about is “Where did I leave my lighter?” This craving for nicotine is due to your body getting use to and feeling comfortable with a high level of nicotine.

    Hello,

If you are thinking about using smokeless tobacco in order to quit cigarettes, forget it. You're just trading one poison for another. The same goes for cigar and pipe smoking. They all have their own dangers and they are also offensive to the people around you. Nicotine gum alone will not make you quit smoking, but it can help if you're determined to quit, lay the foundation for quitting, and use the gum properly. Nicotine gum gives you your dose of nicotine from the gum rather than from a cigarette. You're still addicted to the nicotine, but you're getting it in a less harmful way.

    Thanks.

If you ever read literature on personal development, then you probably noticed that planning has a special place in such books. As quitting smoking is a pretty serious change in your life, it is better to begin this process with making a plan. On one hand, our life is often full of surprises and it seems like planning is a waste of time, as it is impossible to see future. However, in reality, planning as a process is directed more towards confirming your intentions and organizing information, and the plan itself is quite flexible as you can adjust it depending on the circumstances.

In the beginning of planning it is necessary to gather as much information about quitting as possible. Try to find a lot of successful quitting stories, so you can extract methods that really work from them and implement to your plan. The plan should be broken down by several sections, and all the methods you collected to be sorted out by them. Now I am going to give you an example of my classification, however, you can make your own.

Cigarette smoking has been identified as the most important source of preventable morbidity (disease and illness) and premature mortality (death) worldwide. Smoking-related diseases claim an estimated 443,000 American lives each year, including those affected indirectly, such as babies born prematurely due to prenatal maternal smoking and victims of "secondhand" exposure to tobacco’s carcinogens. Smoking cost the United States over $193 billion in 2004, including $97 billion in lost productivity and $96 billion in direct health care expenditures, or an average of $4,260 per adult smoker.
