Default Bad effects of smoking ??

Smoking reduces a person's life expectancy from anything from 7 years to 30 years. Generally smokers are less healthy and less physically fit than non-smokers. In addition, they take more days off work through illness than non-smokers and are more prone to common illnesses such as colds or sore throats. Smokers will get out of breath much quicker after exertion and find it harder to exercise and they will also have a higher risk of infections, as the body's immune system is damaged from smoking.

There are many negative side effects from smoking that show up in a variety of diseases and conditions.
    Cancer
    1. Cigarettes are responsible for 30 percent of overall cancer deaths and 87 percent of lung cancer deaths. Lung cancer is hard to treat and often not diagnosed until it is in advanced stages, which accounts for its extremely low survival rate. Cigarettes are a major factor in cancers of the larynx, mouth, throat, bladder and esophagus as well. The following cancers are also linked to smoking, but not as strongly: pancreatic, cervical, kidney, stomach and leukemia.
    Women's Health
    2. Cigarettes do severe damage to reproductive organs and newborn children. Women who smoke are more likely to have trouble conceiving and are more likely to experience a miscarriage. Smoking is also linked to premature delivery, stillbirths and low birth weight. There is also a connection to sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).
    Circulation
    3. Smoking negatively impacts blood flow to the extremities, resulting in PVD (peripheral vascular disease). PVD can be treated surgically, but the operation will be ineffective if the patient continues to smoke. Many doctors will refuse to do the surgery unless the patient agrees to give up cigarettes. Since erections are linked to blood flow, men who smoke may suffer from erectile dysfunction.
    Respiratory Problems
    4. Smoking is responsible for a host of respiratory conditions. It damages air passages and can cause emphysema. Cigarettes also worsen conditions such as pneumonia and asthma. Many longtime smokers suffer from chronic cough and excessive phlegm.
    Heart Disease
    5. Smoking affects physical appearance by yellowing skin and teeth. It causes wrinkles and premature aging. Eye damage can occur through macular degeneration or cataracts. Bone thinning and fractures are possible, as well as peptic ulcers.

No. Reading bad affects won't be enough to make a person want to quit. The reason being, almost everything in life has a bad affect, does that mean you are going to stop living life how you want to because of a bad affect? No.

I think most smokers, myself included are just used to doing it. It's something more like a hobby, than an addiction now. Addictions are easier to cure, than a hobby is.

If you brush your teeth daily, like supposed to, smoking does not affect your teeth. It hasn't done a thing to mine, and I've smoked for 15 years. I think people just look for excuses as to why their teeth are bad, instead of doing the things required to care for them.

    Hello guys,
    Much effect of smoking:-
1-Tobacco smoke also contributes to a number of cancers.
2-The mixture of nicotine and carbon monoxide in each cigarette you smoke temporarily increases your heart rate and blood pressure, straining your heart and blood vessels.
3-This can cause heart attacks and stroke. It slows your blood flow, cutting off oxygen to your feet and hands. Some smokers end up having their limbs Amputated.

Smoking is bad for the health. It only contributes diseases and illness. It can also cause our immune system to be low. Quitting smoking is the best solution. However it’s hard to quit especially for those who developed addiction in nicotine. Start by knowing why you really want to quit smoking and identify the steps how you can avoid cigarettes. In this way it helps you eliminate the nicotine in your body. I recommend that you try the Yuen Method. It’s fast and consider to be an alternative form rather than using medications that will help you quit in smoking to avoid withdrawal effects. worth pointing out that the effects of so called passive smoking are also huge, and only just beginning to be understood and evaluated - leading to some good legislation like banning smoking in cars where children are present, but that's the tip of the iceberg really - much more awareness still needs to be generated with parents about smoking around their kids and its effects.

*Lung cancer from smoking is caused by the tar in tobacco smoke. Men who smoke are ten times more likely to die from lung cancer than non-smokers.

*Heart disease and strokes are also more common among smokers than non-smokers.

There are quite a few bad effects of smoking, which we all know and can read several of them here, but yet people still do it. The addictive power that cigarettes can have over people is mind blowing so if you know someone, or are someone trying to quit then you may need to have someone around to talk to when those cravings get a little too hard to resist. Sometimes people know the harmful effects that smoking is already having on their bodies and still continue to do it. Put your life in perspective and find out what really is important to you.

Really I am totally agree with your nice information and fully satisfied with your post. Aside from these major effects, smokers are also at risk of developing mouth ulcers or cancers and dental problems such as teeth discoloration due to tar, gum bleeding and diseases, bad breath, and tooth decay. Smoking also increases the production of acids in the stomach, which often leads to ulcers and heartburn. Tar can also cause cancer of the throat and the esophagus. Cigarette smokers are twice as likely to die before middle age and the average smoker aged 35 has a life expectancy five and a half years shorter than a non-smoker. In many cases, these deaths are caused by cancer. Thank you so much.

    Hi,

Smoking reduces the amount of oxygen that reaches the heart, increases blood clotting and blood pressure, and decreases high-density lipoprotein.

    Thanks

Smoking is a well known bad habit. Every person who is fan of smoking is expected to have a lesser life that those who do not. I wonder why people dont want to have a long life. Users are already aware about the consequences of what they are doing, yet, they always follow what they desire and what can satisfy their needs.

Hi sometimes people burn themselves a little or a lot with the cigarette or with a fire in a mattress or to the house. If other people are in the house other innocent babies or other people may die from the fire. This is to say nothing about property losses and insurance money losses contributing to the national debt. Of course when a person is in a car and lights up a cigarette, puts one out or puts it down then they may not have their full attention on the road and people may become either severly injured with disability or there may be a fatality. Cigarettes contain not only carbon monoxide but carbon dioxide and this contributes to global warming. Also millions of cigarettes with millions of smokers with millions of little fires release more heat into the atmosphere. I keep wondering when the public will see the enormous loss of life, health, limb, property, money and put a demand to the stop of smoking.
